Interim Chief Executive Officer
Steve Thibeault was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer of Turquoise Hill Resources on March 3, 2021.
Throughout his 40 years’ experience in the mining and shipping industries, Mr. Thibeault has worked extensively across North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. Over the course of his career, he was able to expand his role constantly in various finance-related positions, including the role of Chief Financial Officer for the past 10 years.
Mr. Thibeault joined Alcan Inc. in 1981 and held various positions in Finance, working his way from the Operations group to Corporate. In 2009, he became Chief Financial Officer of Energy Resources of Australia, an Australian mining corporation held in majority by Rio Tinto. His career at Rio Tinto continued to expand as CFO of its subsidiary Turquoise Hill Resources (TRQ), from 2014 to 2017. TRQ is a mining corporation operating and developing one of the largest copper deposits in the world through a subsidiary company. Finally, Mr. Thibeault was the Chief Financial Officer of the CSL Group (Canada Steamship Lines) from 2017 to 2020.
Mr. Thibeault is also a member of Astérix Inc. and Federal Fleet Services Inc., two divisions of Davie Shipbuilding. Prior to that, he sat on the Boards of Oyu Tolgoi Mine, a Mongolian mining company, as well as the Boards of TRQ Netherlands and TRQ Luxembourg
He graduated in Finance from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (1981), and in Accounting from the École des Haute Études Commerciales de Montréal (1990).
Mr. Thibeault is currently a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Chief Financial Officer
Luke Colton was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Turquoise Hill Resources on October 9, 2017. Mr. Colton has been with Rio Tinto since 2004 and has worked in various business units, including minerals, iron ore and energy. In his most recent role as Richards Bay Chief Financial Officer, he was directly responsible for financial and managerial accounting, business planning, treasury, tax, warehousing and compliance functions as well as a member of the senior leadership team. Prior to joining Rio Tinto, Mr. Colton was Senior Accountant with Ernst & Young.
Chief Operating Officer
Jo-Anne Dudley was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Turquoise Hill Resources on June 3, 2019 bringing more than 25 years of mining industry experience to the Company. Since 2010, she has been a key member of the Oyu Tolgoi technical team that manages the development of the Oyu Tolgoi underground. Most recently she led Oyu Tolgoi’s 30-person Strategic Mine and Resources Planning unit. Prior to commencing her work on Oyu Tolgoi, Ms. Dudley spent five years working with Rio Tinto’s technical group on mines in South Africa and the USA. Before that she worked in underground mines across Australia as an Underground contractor and spent nearly ten years in Operations and Studies roles at the Northparkes copper and gold mine in Australia. Ms. Dudley graduated from the University of New South Wales as a mining engineer in 1994. She holds a New South Wales Below Ground Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency, and a Graduate Certificate in Technology Management.
Dustin S. Isaacs
Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary
Dustin Isaacs was appointed General Counsel and Corporate Secretary on January 1, 2013. Mr. Isaacs has 20 years of experience in legal, governance and transactional matters. Prior to joining Turquoise Hill, Mr. Isaacs worked for two years at Rio Tinto holding lead legal roles in various transactional and joint venture projects as well as providing legal, commercial and strategic advice to certain business units. He was previously in private legal practice for close to 10 years as part of the business law group at a top-tier Canadian law firm. Mr. Isaacs holds LL.B. (Common Law), B.C.L. (Civil Law) and B.A. (Honours) degrees from McGill University and has his ICD.D designation.
